Teach Me to Be Grateful

If I were praying right now, here is what the prayer would be.

Lord, teach me to be grateful.

For my family.

For my friends.

For my health.

For my job.

For my home.

For this very blog and the many opportunities it affords.

Teach me to throw out the jealousy that creeps in regarding all of the above, and replace it with love and encouragement.

Teach me to not focus solely on the numbers. But on the impact.

Quality over quantity.

Lord, teach me to be patient.

With myself.

With those whom I love.

With my life.

Teach me to trust that if I work, good things will happen.

There is a time for everything.

where i was meant to be

Lord, teach me to be an uplifter.

To find the good in others and celebrate it.

Lord, teach me to be still.

To be in the moment.

Not planning my to-do list.

Not wondering what of these events I should share on social media.

To enjoy time with friends and family.

Lord, teach me to prioritize.

To be productive, not busy.

To unscramble these thoughts so a purpose becomes clear.

To be ever moving towards my goals and dreams.

Not running in circles around things that don’t matter.

Lord, teach me to be happy.

To actually feel good in my heart on a daily basis.

To recognize all of my feelings as valid, but to pull out the most positive and dwell on those.

Lord, help me to have faith.

In myself.

In others.

In You.

That even in my darkest moments, I can push through.

That even when I feel all alone, there is always someone there who cares.

Teach me perspective. This too shall pass.

it will be okay

Note: Everything is alright over here. Just battling some inner demons this weekend. It happens, right? I want to let everyone know that life isn’t always peachy keen over here..sometimes it’s a daily battle to focus on the good, but that’s okay. Writing this out helps me and hopefully others cope with these issues. Writing is pretty awesome like that.

Speaking of which, I will be writing about my writing process (ha) later this week. I am planning on doing a link-up in case others want to answer the questions as well.

Writing questions:

1) What am I working on/writing?
2) How does my work/writing differ from others of its genre?
3) Why do I write what I do?
4) How does my writing process work?

You can answer one or all of them to link-up! :)

Tell me….

Can you relate to any of this?

What is one quality you love about yourself? I think my best quality is empathy, although it can also be my worst as I let others’ problems get to me emotionally.

PS I’m all about Pinterest this year, so I would LOVE IT if you could pin one (or two!) of these images. Use the handy dandy buttons at the bottom and top of each post to display the whole list of pins. If there is a link below the image, make sure to use that link to pin.

Awwr girl this was so beautiful :) I can definitely relate to a lot of these, and I hope that things are going okay for ya. Things have been crazy around these parts lately as well, so just know that you’re not alone with things like this. We’re all in the same boat :)

Thanks, Amanda! Things are good for the most part, it’s just those moments when I feel sad about one thing and then all of a sudden my thoughts spiral downward and I feel like life is awful…when really it’s pretty amazing!!

Can’t wait to hug you at Blend! :)

I love this! I am copying this and really using it as a prayer.
I love that I’m not scared to be unique or do silly things in public.

That is a huge compliment that you are going to use this!! <3

I envy the trait of being yourself all the time! I have the hardest time warming up to people and being myself. I am pretty good now though in public when I don't know anyone (and I'm with a friend whom I can laugh with..if that makes sense) and with close friends. :)

Amen… I have been struggling with contentment… Only the Lord can give you lasting peace and contentment!

I feel you with some inner struggles lately. I’ve been pulled in a number of different directions trying to figure out which one my life will choose and if that will be the “right” one. I’m learning day by day to take the day as it comes, do the things I want to do, and try to not sweat the small stuff. I think 20 years from now it won’t matter that I didn’t run one day during the week. But doing the things I want in life will. I’m here for support! Another reason we need to be closer!

Yeah it’s a balance though between planning and doing the day-to-day things. I try to not worry about the bigger picture then all of a sudden I’m a year older and wondering what I’m doing, ya know?

Yes. Move to the twin cities!!!
