Study Break!

Happy Tuesday Friends!

I have one last final tomorrow and then I am free.
Free for the summer.

From school, anyways.

I am taking a quick study break to process today.  (Although I'm excited to get back to it so I have an excuse to eat my yummy study snack!)

That's the beauty of blogging.  It's sort of like a diary.  (Thus the blog name "Diary of a Semi-Health Nut")

I got up around 8 with a huge headache.  It's been a trend as of late.  A very un-welcome trend I will add!

I had my usual peanutbutter and jelly toast and warmed up my leftover latte from my coffee catering job yesterday.  Yep, reheated latte for breakfast.  I sure am a classy lady!
I was going to run today.  I really really wanted to run today.  Why?

Well because I was getting my hair done today so of course I wouldn't be able to partake in a shweaty workout for a couple of days.  For those of you who don't know, it's best not to wash your hair once it's been colored for a couple of days.  Plus, I can never EVER get my hair to look quite as cute as when it's done in the salon so I like to keep it going as long as I can.  (You know you like the hair talk. ;-) )

My stylist has told me that I can still workout but just not wash my hair...I don't think she knows how well my body's cooling system works.  I can sweat up a friggin storm!

So although I was determined to run, I had the silly headache and my legs were sore from being on my feet about 10 hours yesterday (plus a 2 mile walk with my sister), so I opted for the treadclimber.

The treadclimber is very deceiving.
The maximum speed is 4.5mph, which if you've ever been on the regular treadmill, that is only a very brisque walk.  Somehow on the treadclimber though, that speed is a bit of a jog.  The treadclimber workout is basically like walking on a hill that sinks down when you step on it.  Like walking uphill in sand maybe?  Anyways the sweat was pouring down into my eyes after a mile and a half so I decided to call it good and rush to the shower and downtown to my hair lady's new location.

I had the last half of my pb toast when I was walking out the door at about 10:30.  My hair appointment got done at 1pm and I was starving!  I'm not sure what it is lately, but when I get hungry, I am HUNGRY!  I was debating on places to eat downtown when I got to my car and saw a lovely orange envelope on my windshield.
It says "Public School Fund."  You're welcome public schools.
Parking  ticket.  Crap.  Apparently I need to get out more often because the last time I parked downtown (a year ago?) when I had lunch with my brother, I completely forgot to pay and got a ticket.

I was a little annoyed so I decided I should just head to the school to pick up my cap and gown.  Yep, I'm graduating.  Nope, not a bacchelor's degree.
I'm getting my associates at the community college I've attended for about 3 years.  A little longer than I planned, but at least I will have SOMETHING to show for it.  I won't be able to get my bacchelor's degree for another 2 and a half years so hopefully I can feel a little more accomplished with the associate's degree.  I know it's all in my mind, but sometimes I can get down on myself when I look at what my peers have accomplished.

((Yikes the commencement is next Friday already!! ))

I didn't eat until about 2pm and I was famished!  Had a turkey sandwich from Jimmy Johns (the lettuce looked bleh so I put spinach on it), cottage cheese and chips.

I finally forced myself to start studying today and that is when my headache came back.  Hmmm....maybe studying is bad for you?  kidding.
I made a yummy study treat to help keep me energized and focused.  I'm thinking of having it patented because it is so amazing.
Refrigerated york pieces + Planters nut-trition = perfect semi-healthy study snack
The nuts in the planters pack include almonds, peanuts, walnuts, cashews and my new favorite: pistachios.  Each pack is about 200 calories so I have been doing half a pack + a handful of pieces at a time.  Portion control! :-)

Back to the books for this girl!

Have a great evening all!  If you have finals this week like me, good luck! :-)

What do you use to keep you going during long study hours?

Peppermint or spearmint?  I am a peppermint gal, but the BF dislikes most peppermint in treats.
