Goals Update + New Summer Goals

Hello Friends!
Well I totally spaced on doing goal update posts in March and April, but that makes this one all the more exciting right?!

I was blog-surfing today, since I have the day (and the next couple of days!!) off, and am procrastinating my cleaning projects.  I came across a post at the Lunch Box Diaries about setting goals.  I realized I needed to revisit my goals and get some things accomplished this summer!

(See January Update and February Update)

In January, I sat down and made this enormous collage of things I wanted to accomplish this year.
It's not something I often do, however I felt like I was in a little bit of a rut and wanted to get some things accomplished.

This project was mostly fueled by copious amounts of grandma cookies leftover from Christmas celebrations and while watching hours of 30 Rock on Netflix.  The results were quite nice despite the chaos of the season.
I am pleased to tell you that I have already accomplished quite a few of the goals on my list.
(Click for the original post.)

***Warning:  If you are one for goal-setting and crossing things off of lists...this is the post for you!
Otherwise...check out my food tab or something else to occupy your time in my corner of the blogosphere. ;-)

Here are my goals for the year:
(I've crossed off for the ones I've accomplished and you can check out the links for the ones I've blogged about.)

Health Goals:
Personal Goals:
  • Read one book a month (started in December with Mindy Kaling's fabu book)
  • Treat myself to at least one:
    • massage
    • manicure
    • spa facial
    • pedicure
  • Complete Blue Book (foundational values church program I've started with the BF)
  • Buy new gym/running shoes (Asics are the best!)
  • Update wardrobe (not the most specific goal...)
  • Get my own apartment (love the Daddio, love free rent, but I am starting to feel like I've overstayed my welcome)
  • Keep track of my cleaning (I'm just going to keep a calendar in my bathroom..I need to clean more..can anyone relate?)
  • Volunteer somewhere new {Post: Conservation Fusion: Saving Our Earth One Child at a Time}
I helped out decorating cupcakes and photographing the event.

 Educational Goals:
Graduation Post
  • Get Associate's Degree (I don't need one..however I think it will make me feel a little better about spending three years at a community college ;-) )
  • Job in healthfield
  • Take a photography class
  • Take a writing class

 Blog Goals:

New Additional Blog Goals for this summer (June 1st through mid-August) :  (because it's good to challenge yourself right?!)
  • Get my Recipage Page completely up-to-date
  • Update Pages
  • Re-design header (myself or someone else) to really represent what semi-healthy means to me
  • Guest post on other blogs (let me know if you're interested!)
  • Post 5 times a week this summer
  • Have one giveaway a month (of a product I truly love and endorse)
Additional Cleaning/Organizing Projects for the summer:
  • Bathroom
  • Desk/Livingroom (the living room is my office lol)
  • Shelves (full of school things and do-dads)
  • Basement
  • Room
Additional Life Goals:
  • Get school plan taken care of
  • Be more social!  (Very vague, but still a goal)
  • Volunteer somewhere new
  • (Can a goal be to get a ring on my finger?  4 years of dating and 25 years old...I guess I can just cross my fingers!)
  • Start to plan an important birthday celebration
  • Plan a baby shower
  • Sign up for another half-marathon!

Tips on Goal setting:
  1. Be specific.  Your brain won't take you seriously unless you are very specific on your goals.
    • Instead of "run a race" change it to "run a half-marathon."
  2. Get the wording right.  Use "I will."
    • Instead of "Try to run a half-marathon" change it to "I will run a half-marathon."
  3. Set a date of accomplishment.  If you don't set a date...you really aren't setting a goal.
    • Instead of "I will run a half-marathon" change it to "I will run a half-marathon by October 31, 2012."
  4. Have a reward system (unless crossing things off of a list is enough).
    • Non-food rewards:
      • Going to a movie
      • Taking a trip
      • Buying a book or DVD for yourself

Well I'm feeling surprisingly energized...even though I added more on to my to-do list!

I think I will take a walk, which is more planned exercise (all of my jobs are a workout) than I have done the past two weeks with being sick and not able to breathe out of my nose and all.

Have a great day everyone!
