Semi-Healthy Snack

Hello Friends!

I promise this is the last post about V-day related things…but are you wondering what to do with your leftover candy/sweets?

Make a little trail mix!


Simply combine these ingredients:

  • 1/2 to 3/4 part Whole grain cereal (I used Kashi Warm Cinnamon Oat Cereal)
  • 1/8 part Chocolate of your choice (M&Ms work great)
  • 1/8 to 1/4 part nuts or seeds (I used sunflower seeds)
  • Dried fruit is another great addition!  I should have added some craisins leftover from my Rasp Craisin Cookies

(Forgive my math.  These are just approximates.)


I’ve been munching on this stuff all last week and this week ever since I made my Lovingly Healthy Cookie Bars.


I am so dang proud of this recipe!

P.S.  You know that this is a semi-healthy blog right?

That I love to bake and not only healthy items?  That I indulge my sweet and savory tooth(s)?

It’s funny to me because I thought that my blog name Diary of a Semi-Health Nut would make it clear that I am not, nor will I ever be, a strict eater.

The Daddio brought some cake pops to work and since I was posting about them, he gave them my blog address (also because he is an awesome dad and likes to brag).  One co-worker asked, “How is this healthy?”  No one ever said it was silly!  It’s a yummy treat for Valentine’s Day!

Another comment on my blog made me think the reader thought I was a “clean eater.”  Far from it!  I admire those that are able to “eat clean.”  But I am not able to (or simply unwilling to) follow this diet plan to the fullest. (Fellow blogger’s post on clean eating.)

Sometimes I get in a baking kick and will post tons of yummy treats (some healthier than others) and other times I will be talking about my running or semi-healthy meals I make.

I hope that’s okay with my readers because this is what makes me comfortable.  I blog about what is on my mind and going on in my life where it intersects food, health and fitness (even family and friends at times).


Let me have my cake! ;-)

I think I would have anxiety if I were told I can’t write about this or that.
